Respect for Marriage Act

Congressman Jerrold Nadler (NY-8) recently introduced the Respect for Marriage Act (HR3567) which aims to repeal DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act). Details of the legislation can be found here. Currently the bill has 101 co-sponsors. David Mixner recently wrote to suggest that Democrats that are not listed as a co-sponsor should not receive any financial support from those that support full equality. As of today, not one Texas Representative has signed on as a co-sponsor of the bill.

Here is a list of all of the Texas Democrats in the House of Representatives. Contacting each member would be a good action item for your next Congressional District Action Team meeting.

Week of Initiative, November 1-8

Equality Across America, in conjunction with Camp Courage, have put together a Congressional District Action Team Toolkit to help organize members across all of the 435 Congressional Districts. This toolkit is available below for our Texas Congressional District Action Teams (TxCDATs). Our goal is to have at least one person in each TX Congressional District contacting their Representative to support legislation that will provide equal protection for LGBT people in all matters governed by civil law in all 50 states.

Download your copy of the toolkit here.
